CINEUROPA:  Sweden’s Chimney, which co-produced Swedish director Stig Björkman’s Ingrid Bergman – In Her Own Words (which will have its world premiere at Cannes), and Swedish regional film centre Film i Väst have joined the US production of Beyond Deceit, the directorial debut by US screenwriter Shintaro Shimosawa, currently shooting in New Orleans.

According to Sweden’s DN, footage is now reaching the Swedish editorial team comprising Gregers Dohn, Henrik Källberg and Gustav Öström at Chimney’s Stockholm headquarters; sound, light design and visual effects are in the hands of Mattias Eklund, Mats Holmgren and Andreas Hylander, respectively, who have all received a Guldbagge, Sweden’s national film prize, for their work. Post-production will take place in Trollhättan and Gothenburg.

Scripted by Adam Mason and Simon BoyesBeyond Deceit follows an ambitious young lawyer who takes a case against the ruthless executive of a large pharmaceutical company, only to find himself tangled up in blackmail, corruption and murder. Ellen S Wander is producing, with William DeLaney co-producing, for Mike and Marty Productions.

The international cast includes Josh Duhamel as the lawyer, Al Pacino as his mentor and Anthony Hopkins as the pharmaceutical chief, as well as Swedish-Canadian actress Malin Akerman, Alice Eve, Julia Stiles and Byung-hun Lee. Lionsgate will handle US distribution, and a US release has been scheduled for early 2016.

Chimney has previously co-produced such films as Hungarian director Kornel Mundruczo ’s White God [+] (2014).
